Lastly, if you're looking to buy cans/bottles to take back up to LA, check out Bine & Vine Bottle Shop near North Park or San Diego Wine & Beer Co on Miramar. They even had a barrel-aged stout from Horus who makes some of the best BA beers period. I went there this past weekend and was really impressed with what they had on tap. If you're looking to try beers from a few different breweries at one spot, I'd suggest Ales Tales Taproom near downtown. If you're in North Park, definitely try North Park Brewing for their IPAs. If you don't mind a bit of a drive into North county, Abnormal does good stouts and IPAs as well. Mikkeller also has a tasting room in Little Italy, while Pure has multiple tasting rooms in SD and North County. They are conveniently near each other on Miramar. If you're into hazy/NE IPAs or barrel-aged stouts and sours, definitely check out Mikkeller and Pure Project.
